The exact-value table (0°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 90°) has to be instant recall. Identities matter more than memorized formulas.
Complex Numbers and Quadratic Equations
Covers: why complex numbers are needed, algebraic properties, Argand plane, polar representation, and solving quadratic equations with negative discriminant.
Modulus and argument make far more sense once you actually plot a few numbers on the Argand plane instead of just memorizing formulas.
Linear Inequalities
Covers: algebraic solutions of linear inequalities in one variable and their number-line representation, graphical solutions in two variables, and solving a system of linear inequalities.
The one rule everyone forgets: flip the sign when multiplying or dividing by a negative number. Drill this until it's reflexive.
Permutations and Combinations
Covers: fundamental principle of counting, factorial notation, derivation of permutation and combination formulas, and their application to arrangement and selection problems.
The formulas aren't the hard part — knowing when to use P vs C is. Practice a wide variety of word problems.
Binomial Theorem
Covers: statement and proof of binomial theorem for positive integral indices, Pascal's triangle, and finding the general term and middle term of an expansion.
Most exam questions ask for a specific term or coefficient, not the full expansion. Get fast at the general term formula.
Sequences and Series
Covers: sequences vs. series, arithmetic progression (AP) and geometric progression (GP), general term and sum of n terms, arithmetic and geometric means, relation between AM and GM, and sum of special series.
AP and GP formulas get swapped under pressure. Keep them on one comparison sheet side by side.
Straight Lines
Covers: slope of a line, angle between two lines, different forms of a line's equation (point-slope, slope-intercept, two-point, intercept, and normal form), general equation, and distance of a point from a line.
There are five-plus forms of a line's equation. Practice converting between them, and the rest follows.
Conic Sections
Covers: how circle, parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola arise as sections of a cone, standard equations, and key properties of each curve.
Parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola each have their own standard form and diagram — build one comparison table with all three side by side.
Introduction to Three Dimensional Geometry
Covers: coordinate axes and planes in 3D space, coordinates of a point, distance between two points, and section formula.
Mostly an extension of 2D distance and section formulas into 3D. Don't over-invest time here relative to Conic Sections or Straight Lines.
Limits and Derivatives
Covers: intuitive introduction to limits, evaluating limits of polynomial, rational, and trigonometric functions, derivative as rate of change, and derivatives of polynomial and trigonometric functions.
This is the foundation for all of Class 12 Calculus. Get comfortable with standard limits and basic differentiation rules now.
Statistics
Covers: measures of dispersion — range, mean deviation, variance, and standard deviation — for ungrouped and grouped data, and comparing frequency distributions.
Mean, variance, and standard deviation are conceptually simple but arithmetic-heavy — most marks are lost to calculation slips.
Probability
Covers: random experiments, sample space and events (set representation), types of events — 'not', 'and', 'or', exhaustive, mutually exclusive — and axiomatic probability.
The formulas are short; reading the word problem correctly is the actual skill. Practice identifying "and" vs "or" and "with/without replacement" scenarios.
